East Farmingdale Fire Co. Working General Alarm Allen Blvd. 2/20/23
The East Farmingdale Fire Company was called to a reported building fire on Allen Boulevard about 17:00 on February 20, 2023. Second Assistant Chief Greco arrived and had smoke showing from a one story commercial building and transmitted a working fire. Chief of Department Lewis, First Assistant Chief Quinn and Third Assistant Chief Kilbridge arrived shorty after. The fire was located in Cruise Control Limousines, the building also houses Barish Pump Co. Engine 1-5-6 was first followed by Ladder 1-5-15 who set up in front of the building. The crew from 1-5-6 put the first line into operation in an interior attack. Upon the arrival of additonal Engines, several more hydrants were picked up and numerous hand lines were put into operation. With deteriorating conditions and threat of a collapse, all members were pulled from the building and an exterior attack was commenced. Master streams from Ladder 1-5-15, Copiague Ladder 1-3-4, South Farmingdale Ladder 978 and Amityville Ladder 1-1-5 were used along with at least two ground monitors to knock down the fire. The fire was brought under control within 2 hours with one firefighter suffering a minor injury that was treated at the scene. Two employees in the building at the time were evacuated prior to the fire departments arrival. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the South Farmingdale Fire Department for a Ladder, the Farmingdale Fire Department for an Engine, the North Amityville Fire Company for an Engine and Ambulance, the North Lindenhurst Fire Department for an Engine and Ambulance, the Amityville Fire Department for a Ladder and Ambulance, the Copiague Fire Department for a Ladder the North Babylon Fire Company for an Engine and the West Babylon Fire Department for RIT. The Wyandanch Fire Company and Babylon Fire Department stood by for East Farmingdale. Although separated by a fire wall the other business suffered substantial damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Chief of Department Lewis was in charge of the operation.
