Massapequa F.D. Signal 10 Mayflower Ave. 3/4/23
The Massapequa Fire Department was alerted for a house fire on Mayflower Avenue about 00:50 on March 4, 2023. Chief of Department Monjardo, Second Assistant Chief Friedland and Third Assistant Chief Zimmerman were on the way quickly. Chief Monjardo arrived and had a smoke condition then transmitted a working fire shortly after, reporting fire in the basement of a two story home. Engine 6314 was first due and had a hydrant passed the house. Ladders 6326(acting 632) and 636 set up on front of the house. The crews from 6314 and 6311 stretched two lines with one going into operation. The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes and contained to the basement. All searches were negative, the house was unoccupied at the time. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by the South Farmingdale Fire Department for a FAST Truck and the North Massapequa Fire Department for an additional Ladder. The Seaford and Wantagh Fire Departments stood by at the West End Firehouse. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
