Plainview F.D. Signal 10 Island St. 5/15/23
The Plainview Fire Department and Nassau County Firecom took numerous calls reporting a house fire on Island St. about 12:25 on May 15, 2023. First Assistant Chief Mayrose arrived first and transmitted a working fire and had fire showing in the rear of the two story house that extended from the first floor to the second floor and attic. Second Assistant Chief Cohen arrived shortly after and handled interior operations. Engine 956 was due and had a hydrant across from the house, that crew stretched the first line to the house. When Engine 9544 arrived that crew stretched a second line, one line was brought to the rear and the other went to the second floor. Bethpage Ladder 4 was the first Ladder on scene and set up in front of the house, Ladder 953 arrived and set up behind Ladder 4. The fire was knocked down and brought under control within an hour with no reported injuries. All searches were negative, the occupants home at the time exited the house safely. Additional mutual aid to the scene was provided by the Syosset and Hicksville Fire Departments for Engines, the Farmingdale Fire Department for Squad 924 and the Jericho Fire Department for a FAST Truck. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
